The company

The Ilva plant in Taranto ex Italsider is an industrial plant, for a total area of about 15,450,000 square meters. In 2018 it was acquired by ArcelorMittal in November 2018, effectively constituting the Italian branch of the Franco-Luxembourg company under the name ArcelorMittal Italia S.p.A.

The Taranto plant, which mainly deals with the production and transformation of steel, is located in Taranto in Puglia and is the largest industrial complex for steel processing in Europe.


Automated management of part of the spare parts warehouse.


The Technolog WMS/WCS manages the automatic warehouse consisting of 18 shelves served by two stacker cranes that move on the aisles via a transhipment bridge. The extracted UDCs are collected by a sorting shuttle that transfers them to the picking positions. With a capacity of 25,000 pallets, the automated warehouse represents only a small part of the entire spare parts warehouse of the plant.
